In order to enhance our environmental management of the Golf Course we are commencing preparation of an “Integrated Management Plan”.  This will require historical records, audits of the present situation and a plan for the next few years. We will need input from Members and Staff as well as outside agencies. The result should be financial savings and a more enjoyable game of golf.  An information pack will be circulating around the Clubhouse and details will be published on one of the notice boards.  If there are any Members with specialist environmental expertise, or anyone with some time to help, please contact the Secretary Manager on  01236 723230.

     Know your Greens Staff

Course Manager     Robert ( Bobby) Fleming

Bobby has served Dullatur for 29 years, after spells at Hilton Park, Milngavie and Fort William.      His in-depth knowledge of all aspects of Course Management and his many contacts in the Green keeping world, make him ideally placed to manage a staff of 9 and a sizable yearly budget.   Bobby is always open to new ideas and ways of improving the playing experience within the constraints imposed on him.

Head Greenkeeper     Thomas (Tommy) Adamson

Joining Dullatur in 1997.Tommys previous experience was with Westerwood and CDC (forestry section) .     His skills in irrigation and environment management have proved particularly useful in tackling Dullaturs testing topography.

Greens Staff

At present we have one Greenkeeper Mechanic who services all the greens equipment

and golf buggies, as wall as repairing and modifying plant, thus extending there useful life.  Our seven Greenkeepers are all fully qualified, most to SVQ 2 level.

As old Father Time swings his sickle towards spring 2008, our Greens Staff are furiously working to complete the winter programme. On-going, as ever, is replacing and extending drain pipework.  With the lack of frost and snow so far, both Courses have been in almost continuous use.

Things to look for

·         New drainage tracks- some have been left open for inspection purposes.

·         Bunker extension at 9th green – please do not walk through this bunker when leaving this green for 10th tee (believe it or not some people do)

·         Deep coring of fairways. This improves drainage into the sub-soil and stimulates vigorous growth.

·         Scarifying and top dressing greens and approaches. This may affect playing conditions for a short period.

·         New winter tees at 1st and 15th Carrickstone.

·         New distance markers on both Courses.

Remember:-

·         Repair plug marks on the greens

·         Smooth sand after visit to bunkers

·         Take back what you bring on to the Course, including bottles, paper, old golf gloves, broken umbrellas etc -  it’s much easier to retrieve litter from the Clubhouse area than the extremities of the Course.
