This is
already shaping up to be a busy year for us on council.
We have our new Secretary, Karen
Dyer who started with us at the beginning of the year and I would like to
welcome Karen to Dullatur Golf Club.
We also have a new head greenkeeper, Tommy Adamson who took over following Bobby
Fleming’s retirement at the end of the season. Tommy has been with us for a
good number of years.
The professionals shop has moved
to what was the dirty bar and we currently are moving our offices into the
space that the shop occupied. We have entered into a lease to rent out the
existing office space for the next 3 years.
We are currently looking at
refurbishing the members bar with new tables and chairs and also new chairs in
the lounge area. We hope that will complete by the end of April. We will look
at replacing the tables in the lounge in the future.
We have also been negotiating
further with Cala regarding the disposal of the
ground previously occupied by the tennis, bowls and greenkeepers
facilities and hope that this can be resolved soon. This will then allow us to
start rebuilding these facilities.
The Reid Jack room has proved a
great success giving members and guests an alternative place allowing us to
concentrate on utilising the lounge more for
functions at weekend. The results of that are reflected in the uplift in bar
and food sales in last year’s accounts and, despite the weather the clubhouse
continues to perform well this year.
Could I thank Malcolm and Karen
for all their help this year and also record our thanks to Willie Crombie, our previous Secretary, for everything he did in
his period in office.
The golf courses were in superb
condition last year and I would like to thank Bobby and Tommy for all their
work over the past years and look forward to good courses this year.
Unfortunately the weather has not been kind of late, meaning that much of the
winter program has not happened. It is likely that certain of the greens may
not be in play at the start of April to allow them to recover from the
protracted periods that they have spent under snow so far this year. I can
assure everyone that they will be restored to play as soon as possible when the
greenkeeper feels they are ready.
We are aware that forthcoming
legislation is likely to impact on certain of our membership categories. The
council is currently reviewing this and is seeking advice on the impact of
this. We will update members when the position becomes clearer and all the
facts known to us.
I would like to take this
opportunity to extend a welcome to anyone visiting this web
site who are not members to come along and see what we have to offer in
the way of facilities and memberships. You will be very welcome and there is
always a member of staff or committee who can assist with information and a
guided tour. Alternatively please do not hesitate to contact us via the details
available on this site.
I am looking forward to the
coming year and representing Dullatur Golf Club. I wish everyone the very best
for the coming season.
